Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I ride an electric bike?

Electric bikes are good for multiple reasons. From the ecological point of view, it’s the friendliest to our environment. Sparing the routes with cars and others, it’s agile and easily maneuverable in the urban cities. With an electric bike, it’s generally faster between targets, easier to go up hills and mountains, body workout as well as saving money.  Regardless of your current body state, e-bikes are usually more convenient.  At the end of the day, you’ve done more then you’d have done with a standard bike.

Remember with an eBike you get to do everything you are doing already but – longer, harder & faster.

Do I need a driving license for an eBike?

There are two types of electric bike: slow (assisted pedaling up to 25km/h) and fast (assisted pedaling up to 45km/h).

•                The minimum age for riding an electric bike is 14.

•                Cyclists aged 16 and above may ride a slow e-bike without any form of license. They may also be ridden by young people aged 14 or 15 who hold a category M driving license (for motorized bicycles).

•                A driving license (at least category M) is required to ride a fast e-bike.

•                E-bikes must use cycle lanes.

•                Slow e-bikes (up to 25km/h) are allowed to use roads signposted “no motorized bicycles”.

•                Fast e-bikes can only use these roads with their motor switched off.

•                Fast e-bikes still need a number plate and vignette. (Get these from your canton’s road traffic office if they are not supplied directly by the shop that sold you your bike).

•                A cycle helmet should be worn. It is compulsory to wear a helmet when riding a fast e-bike.

How fast can I go with an electrical bike?

Slow e-bikes can already reach the speed of 25km/h. However, we are able to build e-bikes that go up to 75km/h (not street legal).

How far can I cycle on one charge?

Generally, an e-bike with a 250W motor and a 10Ah battery can reach between 20 and 40 kilometers. However, if you choose a specified battery, the range can be extended. with Volta, we have several types of batteries that can go up to 20Ah (accordingly with each bike model.)

Can I try the bike models before buying?

Yes of course. The minimal requirement would be for you to give us a call or send us an email (as well as the contact form on our website) so we can arrange an appointment that way you can have the possibility of verifying the right bike for you.

Can I order online and collect the bike in store?

Yes, you can. At the moment of the purchase, you can choose either to have the order delivered to home or come by the shop to recover your products. However, if you choose to come to the store to recover your products, we’ll give you a call to arrange an appointment that suits you.

How long will my eBike take to arrive?

Every order for any products already in stock, it’ll be delivered within 1 and 3 days after the order is confirmed. Please remember that we rely on 3rd party couriers so delivery dates/times are outside of our control & therefore cannot be guaranteed.

Will the electric bike arrive assembled??

Your bike will arrive 99% assembled (with any accessories you have added to the order, fitted to the eBike) and will be delivered in one of our specially designed boxes. Someone needs to be available to sign for the parcel. The box is rather large, our courier will help you carry it in, but they may not enter the property and carry upstairs for example. To fit the eBikes into our special boxes we have to turn the handlebars 90 degrees and remove the pedals. This is simple to re-fit once you have unpacked your bike. If you require assistance, please email us and we will be happy to help.

What warranty do you offer on your bikes?

All of our electric bikes come with a two-year warranty on every part of the bike.
Warranty doesn’t cover bulbs, brake pads/blocks, bearings, tires, tubes, chains, sprockets, hangers, cables, and other items generally regarded as consumables.

Can I ride my eBike in the rain?

Yes! The components of your e-bike are water-proof (IP65) and are able to operate in the rain. However, your electric bike system is not proof against immersion in liquid or being cleaned with a pressure washer.

How long does it takes to charge my eBike?

The average battery charging time is approximately 5 hours with a 2A charger, but this may vary depending on which type of battery and charger you have.
The battery can be charged within the e-bike, as well as out of it, using the battery charger included with the bicycle.
You cannot use any other charger for this purpose, due to the risk of damaging the battery.

Does pedaling rechange the battery?

No. Recharge mode is not efficient enough to be integrated on e-bikes because of the small battery system.
